We moved, local shopping/eating

Posted – July 1

We have been here for almost 4 months now and have moved into a new apartment. It’s on the 28th floor of a 38 story modern building with 465 condos. It’s part of a connected complex of 3 buildings with a total of 1450 units. We are on the north side of the building with a sweeping view of the Bangkok skyline; as you can see in the above photograph.

We moved to be closer to center of the neighborhood. We are on the main street{Sukhumivit) with a street market adjacent to our building, near the steps to the elavatred train. Our building is surrounded on both sides by 2 to 4 blocks of every type of business you can think of. There are 3 or more restaurants and food stands, in addition to coffee, ice cream and frozen fruit drink shops, plus as many as 2 Seven-Eleven stores on each block. Of course there are the usual stores selling goods and services that you would expect in any local neighborhood.

Super shopping next to our condo!

Surprise!

It is said that Bangkok is a mix of very old and very new. Yesterday after posting this page, we met some friends for dinner at the Siam Center. As old as our street market is, the Siam Center is extreme new. It has wide walking streets, no cars allowed and very modern buildings and stores. The entire vibe is youth, fresh and fun. The second slide show below shows a few scenes from there.
